Please note that when you leave your office, you should log off of your computer rather than shut it down. I repeat DO NOT SHUT DOWN YOUR COMPUTER! This is applicable for all computers in the College of Education.

To log off your computer:

1. Click the Start button
2. Click Log Off ... (if this selection is available)
   - If no Log Off option exists
   - Click Shutdown and select Log Off from the drop down menu on the Shutdown screen
3. Click OK

For Windows 2000 and Windows XP machines, leaving your computer at a login screen assures that your system is secure (only valid CGSE users with a login can access a system that is logged off). In addition, for all machines, leaving your system on allows us to perform important network maintenance when it will least affect you (the middle of the night).
